World of work is changing rapidly: New skills are required for companies to thrive in the future

Last week saw the inaugural Guaranteed Irish Limerick event “Brexit: Opportunities for the Mid-West” held in the Clayton Hotel, the breakfast briefing was attended by executives from multi-national companies, entrepreneurs, SME’s, and educational institutions.

The event included a panel discussion, followed by a Q&A session with industry experts. The panel included, Mary Considine, CEO at Shannon Group PLC; Senator Maria Byrne, Seanad Spokesperson on Education & Skills; David Conway, CEO at Limerick 2030; Dr Mary Shire, Director of Strategic Alliances, University of Limerick; Ian Headon, Senior Vice President Northern Trust and Miriam Magner-Flynn, Founder & Managing Director of Career Decisions.
The esteemed panel explored and highlighted the opportunities for the region post Brexit, along with the supports available to businesses across the region amidst growing economic uncertainty.

Included on the panel was Limerick businesswoman, Miriam Magner-Flynn, founder & Managing Director of Career Decisions, Ireland’s leading Change, Outplacement and People Development firm. An award-winning company celebrating 25 years in business with offices in Limerick, Dublin & Cork.

Miriam’s advice to organisations was “To never waste a Crisis” and use it as an opportunity to seek out ways to re-organise your business, continuously learn, improve and enhance performance and profitability. “Businesses and their employees need to be constantly learning and upskilling to be agile, innovative and capable of responding to industry changes and opportunities.

New skills are required for companies to thrive in the future. With the right Leadership and Management, we can benefit from Brexit. Mindset and culture are paramount; and through strong Leadership we can create positive mindsets ready to embrace change and ensure great teams are in place to futureproof our businesses” added Miriam.
