Experience in Coaching
As part of the Career Decisions/CoachDevelopTransform team who have successfully coached over 400 School Principals, Cath brings over the past 20 years extensive experience in people development through her work as a psychologist and workplace coach. She is a Chartered Psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland and an experienced user of psychometric tools. As an Executive Coach she has coached senior managers in a variety of sectors including Pharmaceutical, Financial Services and the Arts.
Cath has been involved in the education sector in various capacities, allowing her an understanding of the unique challenges of moving from a teaching position to the responsibility of a principal’s role. She worked closely with SNAs, teachers and principals in her role as an autism therapist. She is a trustee of the recently opened Sligo Sudbury School, broadening her understanding of alternative educational models. Cath currently coaches and assesses groups of post-graduate psychology and career guidance students working towards accreditation in the use of psychometric assessments in two Dublin universities.
Drawing principally from Positive Psychology, Cath’s coaching style is underlined by a belief that people have an innate capacity to learn and grow. She creates a safe space in which clients can explore and experiment, building trust in their own ability to find solutions within a coaching relationship based on trust, curiosity, purpose, challenge and responsibility. Through the coaching partnership, clients create roadmaps and strategies to bridge the gap between their current situation and desired outcomes.
Using her background in psychology she guides clients towards deeper self-understanding and explores how interpersonal style and behaviours impact at work. She draws from a broad range of knowledge and skills to ensure each person receives an individualized experience that best meets their needs.
“I am really enjoying and benefitting from the coaching sessions with Cath. I have developed skills from working with Cath that I will use with my own staff. Her intuitive questioning and knowledge have allowed me to grow and develop over the last several months in a safe place. Cath has been really good at helping me to problem solve which in turn has brought a clearer understanding for me of my role and a new confidence in my ability to lead. A brilliant experience.”
“I consider myself really fortunate to have had Cath as my Executive Coach. With her support and coaching, I was able to determine what was important to me and what areas I need to focus on. She empowered me at a time that I was at a crossroads. I would be very happy to highly recommend Cath to fellow colleagues.”
